Paving Scams Are Here Again
MOULTRIE — — MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be aware of a scam where someone claims to do paving work.
An employee with Colquitt County Roads and Bridges reported someone contacted a resident on Mitchell County Line Road about noon Monday about doing paving work. The man stated he was with East Coast Paving and Seal Coating and he could pave the woman’s driveway with materials left over from another job. He claimed he could pave her driveway at a fraction of the cost of other services.
The woman agreed to let the man do the paving work and paid him $4,000 to do it. The Roads and Bridges employee stated the asphalt used to pave her driveway was only a base and does not hold up for a very long time.
The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office warns residents not to fall for this time of scam and to report any incidents where someone claims to do this kind of work. Anyone who has been contacted or needs additional information can call the sheriff’s office at 616-7430.
